Gatsby Gin is distilled in Fort Myers, Florida, at a family-owned craft distillery, and it was built to hold its own on a Manhattan back bar. Those two facts are the whole story. The house itself began in Europe, where the Art Deco bottle was designed and the botanical profile first found an audience. The gin is the American chapter: distilled on American soil rather than shipped across an ocean.
Why Gatsby Gin Is Distilled in Florida
Almost every premium gin standing on an American back bar was distilled somewhere else and imported. Gatsby was not, and that was a deliberate choice.
Big producers don't change their stills to suit a single brand. Small, family-run distilleries can. From the first conversation, the Fort Myers team treated the recipe as a collaboration: longer macerations where we wanted them, lower-pressure runs where they made the citrus sing, cuts made by hand rather than by schedule. The result is a spirit that tastes the way it was designed to taste, not the way the equipment found easiest to produce.
What Florida Sourcing Means for the Botanicals
Sourcing was the second reason. Two of the botanicals, Florida orange peel chief among them, grow within driving distance of the still. Provenance isn't a marketing line when the orchards are an hour from the bottling line.
Distilled in Florida, Poured on Fifth Avenue
The gin was made to belong on a hotel bar shelf in midtown, and the contrast is the point: quiet craft on one coast, loud confidence on the other, both true at the same time.
The bottle it arrives in has since won an iF Gold Award 2025 and a Double Gold Medal for Excellence in Packaging at the 2026 ADI International Spirits Competition. The liquid inside earned its own verdict separately, and blind: a Silver at The Gin Masters 2026 and a Silver in Classic Gin at ADI 2026.
An American gin, with a European eye for the object it comes in. Two halves, judged by different juries, neither one inherited.
